CNG Capable Ford F-150 Production Begins

Ford has started production on the 2014 Ford F-150 with capability to run on compressed natural gas (CNG).   This makes Ford the only manufacturer with an available CNG/ LPG capable half-ton pickup truck.  Ford is on target to offer eight vehicles that run on CNG/ LPG by next summer.  Read more about it here.

Ford Launches Dreamcase

Ford has launched Dreamcase, an online preview that will highlight 28 of the 57 vehicles they will showcase at November's SEMA Show in Las Vegas.  

According to Ford.com, here is more of what you can expect from Ford at SEMA:

Race fans will have plenty to talk about and see as Ford Racing makes an exciting major announcement about its 2014 racing program.

Ford’s indoor exhibit will be home to “Vandemonium” – 10 Transit Connect Wagons and cargo vans treated as blank canvas by aftermarket tuners to illustrate the vehicle’s use beyond family or commercial transportation. The modifications go beyond eye-catching custom paint or new fascia. The builders incorporated a functionality that captures the spirit of Transit Connect, including creating a mobile boutique, working bike shop and a portable two-person gaming lounge. Look for the first custom Transit Connects to be previewed in Dreamcase this Tuesday, Oct. 22.

Ford will offer race fans at SEMA the opportunity to be among the first to play Xbox One’s “Forza Motorsport 5,” which goes on Nov. 22 of this year. Enthusiasts can take the new Ford Fiesta ST for a virtual spin at the exclusive Xbox One demo stations on the show floor, including the custom designed 2014 Fiesta ST MRT Xbox show car.

At the “Ford Out Front” display outside of the convention center, attendees will see how Ford takes customers further on the road, off the road and on the track. Media will have the chance to ride in Rallycross Fiestas driven by Ken Block and Tanner Foust. Fans will also get in on the action, with ride sessions offered for the Fiesta ST and F-150 SVT Raptor used at Ford-sponsored racing schools.

Ford Mustang Cobra Jet Prototype Sells at Auction

Ford recently auctioned their 2014 Ford Mustang Cobra Jet prototype at the Barrett-Jackson Auction.  It sold for $200,000 to an anonymous bidder.  The proceeds went to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society.  Read more about the prototype and auction here.

Ford Warriors In Pink Going Strong After 19 Years

Ford Warriors in Pink® – the program created by Ford Motor Company to raise awareness and funds in the fight against breast cancer – continues its 19-year quest to keep the subject of breast cancer a part of everyday life. This month, which is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, Warriors in Pink and actor Gilles Marini will be in New York City promoting the limited-edition T-shirt Marini created to aid in the fight against the disease.

Additionally, Ford Warriors in Pink is launching two distinct video series: One, “In Her World,” created by celebrity news site PopSugar, is an intimate look at prominent women and their stories of inspiration. The other, “Courage Talks,” part of the Models of Courage campaign created in 2012, covers the difficult conversations breast cancer patients will inevitably face.

“Ford Warriors in Pink will continue to be a united force in the fight against breast cancer,” said Tracy Magee, Ford experiential marketing manager. “As long as there are women and men out there battling breast cancer, we will be here fighting alongside them.”

Ford Motor Credit Company and Lincoln Automotive Financial Services are offering customers affected by recent floods and other storm damage the option to delay some car and truck payments. The disaster relief program allows qualified customers to delay one or two monthly payments, resuming their regular payment schedules when their situations improve.

The offer is available to customers who are leasing or have purchased vehicles with financing from Ford Credit, Lincoln Automotive Financial Services, Jaguar Credit, Land Rover Capital, Mazda American Credit, PRIMUS or Volvo Car Finance.

2013 Ford Focus Earns Another Top Safety Rating

The 2013 Ford Focus has earned another top safety rating, this time from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS).  The Ford Focus was one of only six small cars to receive the IIHS Top Safety Pick+ Rating.  It has also received a 5-Star Overall Vehicle Score from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

Ford F-150 Features Sustainable Materials

The 2014 Ford F-150 will feature a variety of sustainable materials:

• Rice hull reinforced plastic:  Used in an electrical harness
• Recycled cotton: Used as carpet insulation and a sound absorber; every 2014 F-150 contains enough recycled cotton to make the equivalent of 10 pairs of jeans
• Soybeans: Used to make seat cushions, seat backs and head restraints
• Recycled carpet: Some F-150 trucks have cylinder head covers made with EcoLon, a nylon resin produced from 100 percent post-consumer recycled carpet
• Recycled tires: A thermoplastic material made from recycled tires and post-consumer recycled polypropylene is used to make shields and some underbody covers on F-150
• Recycled plastic soda pop and water bottles: A lightweight fiber derived from recycled plastic soda pop and water bottles is used to construct F-150 wheel liners and shields. The parts are significantly lighter than traditional injection molded parts and lead to a quieter ride. Select F-Series trucks feature fabric made from recycled fiber
• Recycled post-industrial plastics: Used in interior finish panels, including around radio and climate controls

J.D. Power has named two Ford vehicles as tops in their categories for the 2013 APEAL Study.  The study evaluates what consumers like about their new vehicles after 90 days of ownership.  The 2013 Ford Mustang topped the Midsize Sporty Car category and the 2013 Ford F-250 / F-350 Super Duty topped the Large Heavy Duty Pickup category.
