The 1.5L, 2.0L, and 2.7L are all excellent turbocharged options with direct fuel injection, piston cooling jets, paddle shifter, and twin independent variable cam timing. Choose the available Start / Stop Technology for improved efficiency. With this system the engine turns off when the vehicle is stopped such as at a traffic light. Don't worry, your accessories such as air conditioning and radio are still powered for your comfort. When you remove your foot from the brake, the engine restarts instantly. All of this is done without you even noticing it! This system comes standard on the 1.5L and 2.0L EcoBoost® engines with FWD.
The Fusion Hybrid and Fusion Energi use the same 2.0L IVCT Atkinson-cycle, I-4 Hybrid engine and electric motor with a Lithium-Ion battery and regenerative braking. The Hybrid recharges the electric motor with the gasoline engine and by recaptured energy from the brakes. The Energi adds on the ability to plug-in the motor for charging.
